Wooden Walls Mural Project

Indie_RIsingSun_webOn October 17th the Parlor Gallery and Sea Change AP will present an art exhibit and reception celebrating the completion of the Wooden Walls Mural Project at the Asbury Park Boardwalk. In addition to bringing attention to the murals existing at the Asbury Park's historic Carousel, Casino, and Steam Plant buildings, accompanying works by artists that participated in the 2015 mural project will be on display and available for purchase. Many participating artists as well as curators will be in attendance for a Q&A. The reception will take place from 5 PM 9PM at the Carousel Building, located at 700 Ocean Ave in Asbury Park, NJ. The event is free and open to the public.

The Wooden Walls Mural Project is a collaborative effort to bring public art to Asbury Park in an effort to enrich and add beauty to the community. By creating a conversation with local, national, and international artists Sea Change draws attention to the creative spirit that is fundamental to Asbury Park. Organizers recognize the town as a community that embraces creative endeavors and is appreciative of public art, and seek to promote the town's reputation to this end. The local, national, and international artists selected were co-curated by area residents Jenn Hampton of Parlor Gallery and John Herguth of Madison Marquette. Artists were chosen based on their organic connection to Asbury Park as well as their outstanding use of colors, ideas, techniques and media. Each artist is unique in their statement, imagery and technique, thus giving the viewer a well rounded selection of contemporary public art.

Participating artists include Tina Schwarz, Gilf!, Pork Chop, Harif Guzman, Hellbent, Shane Garron, Indie 184, Logan Hicks, Joe Iurato, Jose Mertz, and Pau Quintanajornet. Artists painted works of their own independent vision over the summer of 2015 at the Asbury Park Boardwalk.

Visit Seachangeap.com for further information artists, murals, and this event.

The music collective Asbury Underground will present live music throughout Asbury Park during the day, with a specially curated selection of acts at Arcade Radio in coordination with Sea Change AP. Arcade Radio is located in the Grand Arcade by Convention Hall at 1300 Ocean Avenue. Further information about Asbury Underground can be found at AsburyUnderground.com.

At the exhibition's conclusion at 9 PM, a free after party will begin at the Paramount TheatreMezzanine room at 1300 Ocean Avenue, located a short walk from the Carousel building. The after party event is a free 60's and 70s Soul themed dance featuring DJs DJ Foggy Notion and DJ Mike Longo, among others.

New Mural: LOVE IS PARADISE

LOVE IS PARADISE, site specific mural, 30 x 12 feet, mixed media on wood, 2015.

"Love one another with all of your hearts and do not fear, do not hold back. For the more you give, the more returns to you." - Dr. Brian Weiss

These words inspired the creation of my recently commissioned mural for the Wooden Walls Project, part of @SeaChangeap, right around the corner from the historic Carousel House on the Asbury Park Boardwalk, New Jersey. I had so much fun painting there over the weekend right in front of the beach. Thanks to the wonderful ladies of Parlor Gallery for representing me, the fantastic staff of Madison Asbury who also organized the project and the lovely community of Asbury Park.

KNOCKING YOU OUT WITH “SUMMER LOVIN” AT PARLOR GALLERY
THE COMBINED FORCES OF CONTEMPORARY POP & STREET ARTISTS Asbury Park, NJ (JULY 1, 2015) Parlor Gallery is pleased to announce their upcoming curated Summer Group Exhibition “Summer Lovin” which features an explosive array of artists for whom the landscape of Pop Culture feeds their artistic drive and by doing so reflects the multi-layered visual experience we all live in. Parlor Gallery and the artists have curated a colorful, witty and contemplative collection of new works for this exhibit. Although working in different media and environments, all of the featured artists have been deeply inspired by the urban landscape. The work of the artist Indie184 is quickly becoming one of the most recognized both on the streets and in galleries and museums worldwide. Influenced by abstract expressionism and pop art, her paintings are raptures of colors and textures fused with her original graffiti, street art imagery and designs, juxtaposed with personal messages. In conjunction with her debut at Parlor, Indie184 will be painting a mural on the historic Asbury Park Boardwalk as part of the arts and mural initiative “Sea Change AP” which is co-curated by Parlor gallery and funded and sponsored by Madison Marquette.
